tibi-inspired d.i.y. tee

Call me crazy, but even though it's finally starting to feel like Spring, my mind's already onto all of the gorgeous Fall prints from the fashion week runways. Never one to wait when it comes to clothes (I'm a rip-off-the-tag-and-wear kind of gal), I channelled my must-have-it attitude into a D.I.Y. inspired by one of my fave Fall prints from Tibi! While I'm still lusting after their leather-trimmed versions, I figured a simple tee was the perfect way to emulate it this Spring!

Here's what you'll need to D.I.Y.:

NYFW backstage pass: DL1961

A firm believer in the idea that a good pair of jeans can change your life, I was thrilled to attend the DL1961 runway show to see what's in store for denim come Fall! Known for its perfect fit, the brand has become a fast-favorite of the style set (and Sally!), striking the perfect balance between downtown edge and polished sophistication.

Before the show, I headed backstage where I chatted with Sephora's Sara Biria who created the "heroin-chic" makeup look that would later walk the runway. The totally attainable look is one we can't wait to emulate: a natural smokey eye with a touch of sheen (created with a dab of lip gloss) and a nude lip.

As a crowd began to form outside, we took our seats eagerly awaiting Creative Director Sarah Ahmed's vivid blue jeans, chic distressing, and leather interpretations to strut down the runway. While classic skinny staples got upgraded with tuxedo stripes and frayed details, what really caught my eye were the snakeskin metallics and quilted leather panels. Every look was even more wearable than the last, and left me wishing they could walk off the runway and straight into my closet! Here are just some of my favorites below:

NYFW: what i wore

While the blizzard may have defeated all of our other fashion week plans, on Monday I dashed home after class, quick-changed, and flew to Lincoln Center for the DL1961 show (more on that soon!). I'm so psyched beanies have been everywhere on the Fall runways! I won't have to part with mine too long before I can whip them out again..

ralph lauren coat (similar), vintage levi's shorts (similar), nordstrom brand boots, vintage chanel bag, asos oversized beanie available here), vintage sweatshirt (stolen from daddy's closet - similar), forever 21 necklace, hue tights (available here)

NYFW nail art

What do you get when you combine a blizzard, Sally's enviable nail polish collection, and hours spent on Style.com?! Fall 2013-inspired nail art. While we'll have to wait patiently to get our hands on our favorite Fall collections, we're wasting no time celebrating their runway debuts..

While we both fell for the outerwear at Yigal Azrouel, we spied a few metallic pieces that were equally as dazzling! Sally worked her nail art magic into a glittery black-and-bronze ombre to recreate the print.

chanel nail color in black satin and delight (both available here)

It's safe to say we want every single piece that walked the Rebecca Minkoff runway. From that gorgeous leather-sleeved, fur-collared, yellow-lined coat, to the camo print and pops of color, the collection did us Minkettes proud, and served up tons of nail inspiration!
