This is another example of how sisters come in handy! Something was feeling a bit off when I threw the furry beast jacket over this colorful getup. The dress length? The jacket length? The linebacker shoulders? But before I sent the jacket back into its cage (a.k.a., my closet), I stood in front of the most honest mirror I could find: Sally.
She offered up her white blazer in place of the fur, and cinched me up with a little Chanel.
The end result? A second photo-op and a little game of "who wore it better?" ;)

Did anyone else know that deep in the lower east side of Manhattan, there's an actual Doughnut Plant that makes nothing but delicious doughnuts, all day, every day? Well I'm officially hooked. Yes, girls. Some ladies head into NYC for 5th Avenue - I head in for the doughnuts.
I've decided the best way to deal with the whole season conundrum is to let little bits of skin show at a time. Ease the limbs into spring. My experiment started with the shoulders and has since migrated south to the knee area.

Remember when Sally was searching for the perfect jacket to carry us from winter to spring? We should've known to look no further than Mommy's closet. I found this little beaut stashed between a denim jumpsuit and a white peacoat. The perfect earthy color to top off a muted palette. Pinky promise some brights will return soon!
It's always fun to pretend I'm one of those street-style-perfect models when I throw together a casual look like this. Reality: I'm overworked and over-exhausted, scrambling to get to class on time. If NYFW is any indication, apparently furry arms are still a 'thing' for Fall '12 (see Jason Wu, BCBG, Hervé Léger, Carolina Herrera..you get the idea). Coincidentally enough, I picked this furry beast up at Zara less than 24 hours before the first model stepped foot on the runway! Trendsetter? Perhaps. Amazing sale at Zara that was impossible to pass up? Now we're talking! The last one of its kind with a price tag of $19.99. I took it and ran.
