what to pack: the hamptons

After unpacking from my last trip out east, I finally took stock of what I wore/didn't wear in an effort to streamline the packing process (and perhaps bring one overnight less!) for next time. My conclusion: mix and match pieces are key. Minus the PJs and toiletries, this is the ultimate, tested-and-approved, "What to Pack" Hamptons weekend list! As surprising as it seems, this will last you the entire trip.

grin and bare it

Did anyone else know that deep in the lower east side of Manhattan, there's an actual Doughnut Plant that makes nothing but delicious doughnuts, all day, every day? Well I'm officially hooked. Yes, girls. Some ladies head into NYC for 5th Avenue - I head in for the doughnuts.

I've decided the best way to deal with the whole season conundrum is to let little bits of skin show at a time. Ease the limbs into spring. My experiment started with the shoulders and has since migrated south to the knee area.

My knees are starting to like it. You've been warned.

furball

Mommy's closet strikes again! This time it's a gorgeous fur scarf from Grandma.
I'm lucky I got my paws on it before Sally did! ;)

I finally figured out a way to wear this safari shirt-dress hybrid that had been sitting in my closet for far too long - I threw it over a dress and introduced it to some fur. This made lovey happy - he'd been haunting me to wear the dress since I bought it on one of the very first shopping trips we ever took together.
Little did he know what he was getting into..

missoni for target dress (available here), splendid turtleneck (available here), american apparel nylon leggings (similar style here), bebe shirt dress (worn as vest - similar style here), vintage fur scarf (stolen from mommy's closet - similar style here), ray ban wayfarer sunglasses (available here), alexander wang lia bag (available here with brass hardware), hermès collier de chien bracelet (similar style here), nordstrom boots (similar style here), kate spade gumdrop earrings (available here)

Word to the wise: this very same dress, the one that we waited months for, is now back in stock on Target.com. Oh, and it's on clearance. Along with a bunch of other Missoni for Target goodies. Shop now, thank us later.

angora

Baby, it's cold freezing outside! In need of an extra layer, I ventured into the deepest depths of Mommy's closet and arose victorious with this cropped angora tank in tow. It turns out it was one of the first gifts our Daddy ever bought our Mommy when they were younglings. See that? Warms the heart and soul, literally.

To combat the warm and fuzzy feeling (pun intended), I slipped my fingers into these studded fingerless gloves.
I bought them a few years back to complete a Halloween costume. I was some sort of Tommy Lee '80s Hair Band hybrid. I kid you not.

Next time I'll consider covering my fingers - semi-frostbitten digits are no fun.

Oh, how I love sales... I cannot describe that flutter in my heart when I hear that a favorite store of mine is having a sale, and the joy of purchasing something that I love, for a lesser price! I like to think of it as "saving money" (although, I would be saving if I purchase nothing at all, on sale or not..) and therefore, I feel better about myself buying a dress or a shirt when it is marked 30% off!

Today's "want list" consists of all items that

The perfect white jean is an essential for summer. These J Brand jean leggings are perfect!

This lightweight Splendid cotton tank is bright and cheery for the sunny weather.

These Elizabeth and James snakeskin platform sandals are amazing. I want.

Bright orange nails are one of my favorites for this season, I definitely have to get this color for my next mani.

Tom Ford, you never fail to make be beg for a new pair of sunnies. This oversized pair would flatter anyone!

This House of Harlow necklace may be my next purchase - it's a fave.
