I can't lie - after the bar exam, I had a serious problem transitioning back to normal clothes (you know, those that are not sweatpants/pajamas). I've since come to realize that there's nothing wrong with being a little comfy all the time. Be it in flats, an oversized sweater, or - dare I say it - leggings.

Now I'm totally of the "leggings are not pants" school. But, I'm also a firm believer that when styled properly, leggings can be a worthy substitute. The key is the length of your top - it must be on the longer side. For instance, when paired with hi-top sneakers and a chunky sweater (above), or a tunic-length button-down and booties (below), leggings pass quite convincingly (and comfortably!) as most structured, street-ready garments.

Leather has taken center stage the past few seasons, gracing the runways in many different colors and forms. By far our favorite leather silhouette as of late is the surprisingly versatile (and figure-flattering!) leather skater skirt — its feminine shape and edgy finish make for an endlessly wearable wardrobe addition.

This is one of the few ways we're styling our skirt up this season. Don’t fear leather-on-leather!
Go monochrome and pair your leather skater skirt with a leather jacket of the same shade for a
tough-but-polished look.

how to wear: ankle boots

I searched high and low for the perfect pair of ankle boots. I went studded, buckled, pointy, flat - you name it, I've tried it. My feet were ready to face another Fall/Winter without the ankle boot, relegating themselves to the riding boot or all-to-familiar combat boot. However, a chance trip to Zara.com changed my foot fate forever when I spotted these black, shiny, oh-so-perfectly heeled babies!
It was love at first sight.

Now that the waiting game is over and I no longer worry about finding the pair of my dreams, it's time to brainstorm ways to wear them! Here are two outfit ideas for day and night

This textured coat is the latest layerable addition to my Fall/Winter wardrobe! While I've typically seen similar coats styled up a bit "prettier," I paired mine with jeans and combat boots to play against its femininity and make it more everyday-appropriate. How would you wear it?!

Here's another way we styled up sweatpants for our StyleCaster series! This time we took a cue from designers like Alexander Wang and went full-on sweats-on-sweats. We broke up the monochromatic look with a pair of colorful kicks, and a must-have beanie.
