road tripping

Having traveled out east every summer since birth, you'd think I'd have packing down to a science. While I still tend to bring a few more things than necessary (and by that I mean 2 extra bags of clothes..), one thing's for sure: comfy clothes for the ride - preferably something that will take me from the car to beach, no changing required. Enter: this Cheap Monday dress.

One less thing to stow away in my new weekender (a graduation present from my amazing parents!).

sunny side up

Black and yellow black and yellow. In all seriousness though, it's a winning combination in my book. I clearly fell for this yellow when I visited the Walter Baker showroom. And color aside, nothing beats two breezy pieces on a hot summer day! (Well, nothing, except for a sister who generously 'lends' you one of said breezy pieces..)

keeping it casual

I couldn't go far from home without bringing along something striped! I love how this maxi skirt works dressed down with a casual tee. Perfect for a relaxed night out by the water. And a special thanks to Sally who generously offered up her new Tory Burch clutch for the evening! Best sister of the year award.

by the sea

These vintage Levi's have become a staple in my summer wardrobe (they've even crept their way into my winter wardrobe, too!). I love the little bit of edge they add to a basic tank and bikini. Even though they're as destroyed as destroyed can get, I can still dress them up in a snap with a flowy blouse and wedges. That's when you know you've found perfection!

punch

When the opportunity presents itself, mix brights. Every time. I saw this sweater on Gap.com and rushed to pick it up. It's the perfect little zing of color, and begged to be worn with my electric blue skinnies! I would've topped it off with a pink blazer if I could've - but I guess we'll save that for Spring..

sisterly love

Did I forget to mention that Anabela has a sister?! Her name is Lia, and she showed up in a big box on Christmas morning as well! Naturally they're inseparable - let's see what happens when they share the same outfit, shall we?

It seems they get along just as well as another sister duo I know ;)

Speaking of sharing, remember when we scored a ton of goodies from the Missoni for Target collection?! Well we've been receiving boxes for months now, and the latest arrival was this cardigan! In all of the madness we managed to snag one, so we'll have to pass it around among the three of us - yes, Mommy is included!

alexander wang lia messenger bag (available here in black), missoni for target cardigan (similar style here), j. crew chambray shirt (available here), american apparel turtleneck sleeveless dress (similar style here), j. crew necklace (similar style here), banana republic sweater (similar style here), hue tights (available here), alexander wang anabela boots (similar style here)

Lia is clearly the edgier of the two. See those studs? Mmmmm. Studs.

Some weeks, when lovey's finished with classes, we make a mad dash out east to his summer house for the weekend. This means long car rides, which call for comfy clothes! Nothing too underdressed, though, as my cruising outfit typically becomes my dinner attire.

So what do I do? Pile on most of the jewelry I'll be wearing for the weekend and layer a breezy button-down over an otherwise average look. I add the hat and sunglasses when I really want to go incognito. Throw an iPod into the mix and I'm all set for some traveling fun!

Now I'm just waiting for my ride to arrive ;)
